They work fine for me. When adding a new one it will sometimes place it in a somewhat random top or bottom position, but after dragging it to where it needs to be (which sometimes takes a couple tries) it will eventually work. Care to give more of an explanation so we know what you're dealing with?

Yes, what a terrible way to submit a bug report.
This sounds more like "I" can't get something to work the way "I" want it to, it must be a bug!

The way things work for me is that sometimes a category not related to the move (meaning its nowhere near the category moved or the landing category) jumps to the bottom of the list, or into a random position.

Overall its a rather clumsy system where you could use a number system or even one of those annoying system where you click an arrow to moce things up or down...

Works 100% fine on more than 75 sites that we have installed and on 6 sites based on 9.8.2 - so it is a 100% bug on your side of configuring it

Dollars do you use IE or FF (or any other browser)? Perhaps its browser related?

Yup I agree with YankiDank.

1) Go to Admin-->Category Management
2) Click on the category you want to move and drag and drop it at the destination

If that doesnt work then it might be a bug but will be more helpful if you can explain what you did what the results were.

Lets see if I can illustrate it a bit better...

Categories to start with:
-Category 1
-Category 2
-Category 3
-Category 4
-Category 5

Adding a new category:
-Category 1
-Category 2
-Category 3
-Category 4
-Category 5
-New Category

Wanting to move the new category between 2 and 3, sp dragging it and placing it in the gray field above category 3 to place it above it.

-Category 2
-New Category
-Category 3
-Category 4
-Category 1
-Category 5

Placement is ok, but for some reason #1 jumps randomly and it takes a few tries to get the categories in place, mostly by trial and error until its working.

Possible causes:
1. I am using FireFox, which could handle things differently that IE for example.

2. I have swedish characters in the category names in case that would cause problems.

Hope that explain things better?

Yes that's what happens with me too MortFiles so like I said it's a bug and this isn't the first post about it in the forums!

Regarding your comment there Chuck, how else should I report a bug?

Did you refresh and try again - also you can simply progress to rearrange again. I have been able to successfully check and confirm the functionality on the following browsers: FireFox 2, IE 6, IE 7, Opera 9.5, Safari for Windows 3 and no problems here. we run a team for pligg development and we do all sort of testings before the code is delivered.
