Was my site hacked..??

One day to the next.. working smoothly for 4 months, no change in ANYTHING.. my site returns the following:

Error: '/home/mydomain/public_html/templates_c' is not writable! Please chmod this directory to 777
Please fix the above error(s), install halted!

I will look into possible host changes (unlikely as this is VPN & all other sites are fine).. and try to fix this disaster. Certainly no folders have been changed, permission-wise... I can isolate the time to

If anyone has seen this before, pls advise, it's much appreciated...

Can mod pls delete this post.. it was cache problem, needed to purge contents (learn something new every day!).
