Your posts have been very helpful. Thanks!
Well, as I stated, check out these videos and you will know what exactly DUPLICATE CONTENT is. Use the playlist to watch the second video, as that is the one that explains what it is and what you can do to not ever have it. The first video explains how to get double listings. That one will be harder to achieve because Pligg doesn't allow full control of the meta and title tags info for category pages. I found a work around for that though by creating 3 main static category pages and naming them "keyword-phrase.php". I just did this and will test it to see if the double listings come through for me. I will report back (probably in a newer post) amongst my personal findings.

Anyway, someone created for pligg a duplicate content filter for search engine spiders only to index published pages, category pages and individual story pages. It works well, but obviously since we cannot change the title and meta tags for category pages, then there might be some duplicate content trouble here. I said MIGHT, as I am not completely sure.

Interesting... so far in the poll above, 8 out 14 pligg site owners claim they make money from their pligg site thus far. That's excellent news! Keep on Pliggin!

For some reason. the poll has been "closed" the time I checked out this post. So, for the record, I am not making money ... yet. But, this thread has revived my interest in trying to advance to that level.

I hope so not2serious! I hope you push yourself -- because it can be done. I think owning a web site can be very depressing at times because we always start off with tons of energy. But then, eventually, somewhere down the road, many of us lose sight as to what our goals were to begin with. This has happened to me plenty of times. As a matter of fact, my site is currently 1.3 years old, and it wasn't until October of this year (2007) when I started seeing the benefits. I actually stopped working on it in July because I felt exhausted. I just left it alone and was actually going to close it down, but my wife told me not to -- she actually begged me not to close it down. So I said I would keep it around until the domain name expired, which was in another year. I never updated it for nearly 3 months, between July and October 2007.

Then, one day I was reviewing my stats. I decided to check up on the old site, as I had not even seen it for nearly 3 months. To my surprise, there was an enormous increase of traffic. Now mind you, the traffic I was getting beforehand was about 30 visitors a day... but it jumped from 30 to 400 daily visitors all of the sudden. I checked back on the logs and it all came in one day, towards the end of September, and just didn't stop. I investigated further because I thought it might be some kind of bot eating away my bandwidth -- but I realized these visitors were coming from Google. After about 30 minutes of shock, I was ecstatic!

This is when I came up with up the idea to switch over to Pligg. I was suddenly "re-inspired" to get back to work on it. From that moment, I never looked back. I increased my sales by 10x, etc. etc. So it can happen -- just keep on working at it.

Yes, that link works just fine. They update the videos and play the latest video first. There is a playlist icon in the control bar area of the flash movie player, which should next to the "full screen icon" and "volume icon." Just hover over the icons to see which one is the playlist and then click on the right icon. Then select which video you want to see. See them all, these guys are great! I am actually looking forward to seeing the scrutinizer in action. I have already downloaded it for free. :-)

They are great videos. Very informative and inspiring. I wish I had the skill set to implement more of the suggestions.

Yes, the unfortunate part is that in order to do ANY kind of SEO, you really do need to have some html coding knowledge.

Totally agree. Using Pligg straight out of the box is of no use if you want to get search engine traffic as all the pages use the same title and description!
