I want to get rid of first step of story submission so that users can directly go to step 2. In fact that would be my first step. I don;t want my users to submit a url link to another story or news; rather I want them to write a new story.

I opened the submit.php file. But I don't know exactly how much or to what extent I have to get rid of codes. I tried several ways; but it didn't work. I got mysql errors. Since I'm not a programmer guy, it's tough for me to do that. Can anyone help me out? Thanks

Config.php....

define('Submit_Require_A_URL', true); // require a story URL on submit.
define('Submit_Show_URL_Input', true); // This should only be set to false if the a 'Submit_Require_A_URL'

Set them both to false.

ping, I'm not sure this is possible without some MAJOR code and database changes. It may be easier to upgrade to the latest nightly. If you've done a lot of template customizations then I wouldn't upgrade.

It's obvious you haven't searched cause this thread was dealt with years ago.
