Happy 2008 everyone! It's a new year, and what better way to kick it off by releasing the long awaited Pigg Beta 9.9.0
I'll leave the technical stuff to the change log but I'm sure you will agree this is the best version of Pligg yet. Besides a slew of core improvements and a multitude of bug fixes, the first thing you will notice is a slight change to the installation process. We are rolling out a language fetching feature to the installation process. This will allow you to select a language, then the installer will connect to the Pligg servers to download the most up to date language pack.

Another new addition is Template Management. This will allow you to download and install templates instantly. You can also repackage templates for distribution much easier.

Some other great features included in this version are the addition of the Akismet anti-spam, and new Captcha module for registrations which allows for different types of Captcha methods to be used. Agree-to-Terms allows you to set up a user agreement upon registration.

We would like to thank everyone that made 2007 a great year for Pligg and we promise that 2008 will be the best year yet!

One week after I started a new site on pligg 9.8.2 with LOTS of customization!
Good..

I don't feel like upgrading because I don't rembember all I've changed ;-)

In 2008 PLIGG 1.0 will be out :-) 2 + 0 + 0 + 8 = 10 = PLIGG 1.0

Well done guys, good work

I've just spent the last three days making changes and improvements to my site, so I won't be upgrading yet...

(I actually quite enjoy all the modifications that you can or should make to Pligg... advice you find in these forums... )

Will do in a couple of weeks though...

Unfortunately, I'm back to work tomorrow after the Christmas/New Year break...

So my time is restricted when it comes to these things...

I went through a host of troubles of trying to upgrade from 9.8.2 to 9.9 and unsuccesful of doing so. I reverted back to 9.8.2 and restored the old db. Sigh... I wish some day pligg makes upgrade a lot easier. Like one push button upgrade. . For now I can't upgrade due to the trouble I went through... You can check out the other thread of mine related to this in bug reported area at http://forums.pligg.com/bug-report/1...igg-9-9-a.html.

Yeah I understand the trouble it was hard for me to update from 9.7 to 9.8, I can't imagine how it is from 9.8 to 9.9 with all the changes, but the good thing is, I've been checking the SVN a lot lately, and the modifications made to the templating system is now much more stable and clear. And I think from 9.9 and on (I hope) things should be a little more simple.

My advice to you is install a clean version of 9.9 somewhere other than your live site, rework the templating, import your database from your live site, see if everything is good. Then, put your live site offline, upgrade to 9.9, just copy your reworked template, re-import your database, and everything should be fine. That's what I did once. Just BACKUP, BACKUP AND BACKUP everything so you could still revert everything as if nothing happened.

Nice! But unfortunately, I won't be able to use it since I have customized my pligg site too much
I wish I had waited.
Do you have a changelog that lists all the bug fixes???
