Back again. Using godaddy and filezilla, I find myself not knowing what to do about step 7. I went to my site/install to find the message: The page you tried to access does not exist on this server. This page may not exist due to the following reasons:

1. You are the owner of this web site and you have not uploaded (or incorrectly uploaded) your web site. For information on uploading your web site using FTP client software or web design software, click here for FTP Upload Information.

2. The URL that you have entered in your browser is incorrect. Please re-enter the URL and try again.

3. The Link that you clicked on incorrectly points to this page. Please contact the owner of this web site to inform them of this situation.

Please help.

You would need to provide more information for anyone to really help you. From reading your description it just sounds like Pligg was uploaded to the wrong place.

I was walked thru a lot with godaddy. I used filezilla as ftp client. Changed the chmod's thru filezilla and uploaded. But when I hit step 7, there is nothing for me to proceed with. Could you provide me with steps to upload again? maybe the problem lies there.

Looks like you are install a version 8, from your description. Is there a reason why you are not installing version 9.9, it is the most recent. I would suggest that you also post the Statement of step #7 from the install version that you are installing. Maybe someone can help.

The version used is up to date (9.9). Being a newbie, I am sure the answer is somewhere in front of me. All of the steps were followed, but when I got to step 7 (open yoursite.com/install) there was not much info to read thru and nothing to click at the bottom of the page. All of the files are uploaded in my hosting control center (godaddy) and filezilla. What else can I try.

Using your browser enter Your-site-name.com/install and follow the on screen direction. In my case, I would be entering www.critiquemyart.com/install in the browser window.

I hope this is what you are looking for. Hope you get your install on track.

BTW, you may want to update the information that appears under your user name to version 9.9, other forum users refer to that to try to help. Also, consider putting a link to your site in the signature area of your forum user information. Finally, don't forget to hit the "Thank" button for the users that provide you with some help. I know there are those that like the at-a-boy recognition.
