Looks like our happy PyCurl person is back, this time using plain old Curl as the user agent. So he/she/they probably updated the code. I have the one step registration in place, so no evil is getting through which is good. Figured I would let you know that bubblah has been some 50% of traffic since 01 January 2008, hope this helps as a heads up FYI.

thanks!

I noticed this guy spamming my registration form and to combat it I simply added the following to my .htaccess file after the "RewriteEngine on" bit:

Code:
###### BOT KILLER START ######
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} PycURL.* [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://feck.off/
##### BOT KILLER #####
I haven't seen any other user agents (ie. curl) yet - but if I do, adding another rewrite rule should do it.

I've got "insert the word" protection on my registration form, but the load of the span script banging the form was causing my server to be suspended. I'm hoping this helps.
