I was in the admin cp and enabled Simple Private messaging using the defauly yget template and when I selected the home button I got the following message.

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare messaging_get_message_details() (previously declared in /home/content/b/b/r/bbrian017/html/flickvotes/modules/messaging/messaging_main.php:210) in /home/content/b/b/r/bbrian017/html/flickvotes/modules/simple_messaging/simple_messaging_main.php on line 186

When you visit the site the error might be gone I am going to attempt to un-install this module for now

Also just FYI this happens on both my sites I recentlly upgraded to 9.9.0

Simple Private Messaging and Private Messaging can not work together. Disable one of them will solve your problem.
