Marketing issues with starting a pligg site
I'm thinking of launching my own pligg site, for a small niche that isn't covered well for digg.
I wanted to know how easy/hard is it to get people interested in your site and submitting urls, and getting webmasters interested in pligg, and putting the pligg code into their articles..
Does it help or hinder your site popularity if the pligg is an indeopendat site on its own, or part of a larger site of the topic at hand.
Do certain niches attract higher takeup than other niches?

Content will determine everything. If you have good content people will find you and come back. The biggest mistake I see people make is they spend all their time marketing their sitename or nich, and not their content.
For example, someone makes a site about Poodles. They go to digg and post something like. "New Site for Poodle Lovers". This has less of a chance of making it to the front page than a Ron Paul story. But maybe if they had a photo of a Poodle attacking Ron Paul and used the story url instead, it would have a better chance.
So market the content in the site, not the site itself.
