I have spent quite a while with this problem. I had version 9.8.2 running and I was trying to get URL Method 2 working with godaddy . After several posts in this and other forums I found out that modifying .htaccess while using godaddy does not work (with the limited programming knowledge that i have) .
I appreciate all the help from all the users from pligg and social cms buzz.
If you want a pligg site that can be seo optimized and take advantage of url method 2 stay away from GoDaddy for HOSTING. I still manage my domains with those guys (so far they have been nothing short of excellent) but regarding hosting you can find comparably priced options that will not give you as many problems. Currently I switched to hosting zoom , but I cannot make a recommendation just yet since I have recently switched and havent had the misfortune of needing customer support or other problems. What I can tell you is that url method is working perfectly right now.
