How to create a Login pop-up on Vote, like Digg

Have you seen on Digg, if you're not a user or not logged in, when you click the vote or "digg" button, a pop-up comes on asking you to either register or log on?
Anyone have an idea how to do this?

I've seen an AJAX Digg-like log-in for the header, but not in this other way.
