Currently pligg has taxonomy/search capabilities on categories:

e.g. /index.php?category=technology

And on tags:

e.g. /search.php?search=adventure+games&tag=true

I am looking to extend this, and I am unsure if extra fields will help me or what. Basically I am looking for a way to have the following:

- Category
- Tag 1
- Tag 2

I would like people to be able to do a search based on the following:

- Category (only one choice allowed; via drop-down)
- Tag 1 (multiple choices allowed via checkboxes)
- Tag 2 (multiple choices allowed via text box with comma separation)

On submission however I want people to be able to put multiple categories, multiple Tag 1s, and multiple Tag 2s (and people can add to those much like people can add tags in mixx.com).

Is this possible with some minor development to pligg, or would it almost be easier to develop this from scratch? I am not a developer but looking to hire someone that could do this. What would the cost of something like this be if you modified pligg? Looking to hire if people have quotes.

hi chuck roast, i'm looking forward to the next version. But with my pligg apps i have added few extra fields even though they are searchable i want the same functionality of tags to be applied to them?
eg: in tags field if u give wiki,forum,blog it automatically creates href links for the tags separated by comma. Is there a way i can apply the same process for the extra fields. and it should automatically generate href links for each keyword separated by comma.
