Submitting the story takes about 30- 45 seconds
Hi All
I’m configuring a new 9.95 install. Submitting the story (after clicking the “submit” button) takes about 30- 45 seconds. That is a very long time for the visitor to wait. Is it a normal Pligg’s behavior or it is rather sign of a problem with configuration, install or template?
Thank you for any opinions in this matter

If you are experiencing a slow load between steps 1 and 2 of submit it is probably caused because you have "Validate URL" enabled in the pligg configuration. Go to /admin_config.php?page=Submit and set the validate url option to false to turn it off. This feature fetches data from the site you are submitting and will automatically add in the page title into the story title field.

Yeah you gotta turn off validate URL

Yankidank and msduckland thank you for your response.
I have turned off the URl valdation ("Require a URL when submitting" in 9.9.5 version) and it didn't help to alleviate the problem. Still submit process (after the final “submit” button click) goes on for about 40 seconds.
Maybe it is caused by the non standard template I use or the Pligg being installed in the sub-directory (and not in the root)

I dont see why the installation directory would cause any issues, and its unlikely that the template would only cause a slowdown on that submission page. It could just be your hosting.

There was a fix for this issue on the forum a while back - worked for my site - you will have to search around for it.

Do you have aksimet anti-spam turned on?
This has been reported to slow things down

Yeah, akismet or any other module that might interact with the submission process could be responsible.

Yankidank, thefandango and Fuggled thank you for suggestions.
The problem was caused by Aksimet anti-spam module. With Askimet being switched off submit time is a breeze (1 second or less). Thank you for your help in troubleshooting.
But, now how do I substitute Aksimet’s functionality and stay safe from being spammed. Would “Submit Antispam Addon v 0.1” and “Reg_Reffer v.02” be enough to protect the site?

some people have suggested renaming your register.php to something else (and then changing all relevant links)
The recaptcha for submissions also works - but can look dodgy with different templates.
I would suggest what I did - rename the input boxes on your submission page - this way the bots that are looking for certain box id's can't find them and they give up.
