As most of you know, the trackback built into Pligg doesn't ping the source to show there is a trackback coming from your Pligg website.

I did an experiment with the following blog post I stumbled upon:

WPZOOM ›› 32 Unique RSS Icons usage

I added it to my Pligg site, but instead of using the URL above I used:

WPZOOM ›› 32 Unique RSS Icons usage

And my trackback appeared in their trackback list.

It appeared as pligg.com, but I have since edited that in my admin panel under Configure > Trackback

Heres the post on my Pligg site:

WPZOOM ›› 32 Unique RSS Icons usage / Top Stumbles

Not sure if this will work for everyone, but it worked for me, I will try a few other and see what happens.

Let us know if it works for you.

I use v9.5 behind .htaccess (for different reason) modified with the v9.1 trackback files (http://forums.pligg.com/general-help...html#post59508).

I´ve referenced two articles of them and trackback address has been autodetected as .../trackback/. My trackbacks haven´t appeared so far probably due to the .htaccess wall. Has anyone tried to trackback on WP articles? I can´t receive any trackback address of a certain WP blog. Maybe someone with WP can help me to test.

BTW: Pligg can´t receive trackback-pings on its stories, right? My site is mainly editorial-based so trackbacks to other Pligg stories would be awesome!

I've tested the above tip on 9.9.0 and the trackback didn't appear on the blog I was linking to, only works on 9.8.2 so far.

I have tested this will several news items from various blogs, and it has worked for all of them using 9.8.2, 9.9.0 hasn't worked anywhere.

Not sure what about 9.9.0 is blocking it.

Could it be some sort of anti-spam-policy of some hosters to block trackback because it could track to spammy comments?

Doubt it because I have tried to use the trackback on both 9.8.2 and 9.9.0 from the same host, trackbacking the same blogs.

I will try and get the latest trackback.php file and see if it is different but I doubt it has changed.

Is there another file that would effect it? Does submit_step2.tpl or step3 have anything to do with the trackback?

I was playing with themes in Word Press and noticed some dit pass a trackback to Pligg... After some puzzeling i saw the trackback URL on the WP page. I added the following code to a not trackback-able theme singel page source and it worked...
Code:
<a href="<?php trackback_url() ?>" rel="trackback"><?php _e('TrackBack <abbr title="URL">URL</abbr>'); ?></a>
Try and see work on a singel page at MedLog and add to a pligg site.

So this is a hack for the content sources, not for pligg, right?

It´s fine to know but you can´t persuade any content provider (if able to do so,btw) to change his/her source code.
