How does the karma system works and how do I change it?

How exactly does the karma system works and how would I go about in changing it just a little bit?

With this logic should we just stop using linux?
Karma works just fine. The problem is that most people don't know how to set up a cron to run /libs/karma.php once a day to update the totals.

    yeah thast it!

    It works like a charm.
Just create a cron job. In my case (cpanel) I use the following so karma is calculated (set every whenever you want)

    /usr/bin/GET http://xxxx.gr/libs/karma.php

If you dont set a cron job , karma is pointless , as it doesnt change

Actually karma is like a counter of participation in your pligg community/website. Dont know the exact algorithm (havent bothered to figure it out) , but it takes into account different user attributes, like how many votes, published articles etc.

Run the cron script for karma and you will see in the Top Users section that each user has different karma!

Its just a way users are benchmarked and differentiate to each other.

Would it be possible for points(karma) to be deducted if a link get buried and if they receive a negative vote for a comment?

    Karma and Cron

What's this cron file you guys are talking ? How do I set it up?

I agree that Karma is a good idea.
