    Several Generla Questions

    Hello all,

    1) Is the Pligg search work using tags? I have disabled tags and the search does not work at all, it just lists the exact episodes in the "published" section.

    2) When you upload a group avatar the image becomes pixelated, is there a way for it just stay at the level of quality? I have tried to change the size of "avatars in pixels" and increase it but that didn't work for me.

Any help with these questions will be appreciated.

    - If you choose search option 4, you can use google custom seach on your site based on your indexed page (seo technique - if you use google cse, your site will faster indexed by google) go to admin > config > misc

but you have to add your new code because a google search code that come with pligg package is very old (can't use) and has error. open header.tpl search_center.tpl and search_advanced_center.tpl to insert new code

if you're using google cse overlay version (when click search and has modal popup) you have to edit only header.tpl file

    - for quality image = i think there's maximum already

open ./group_story.php (line 132) and ./editgroup.php (line 146) in root folder
you will see $img->pSetQuality(100); ----- you can set number 0-100 (lowest quality - highest quality) actually it should be 80 (normal stage)

Hi Techkr, Thank you for your reply.

I have started to work on using the Google Custom Search, it worked, but now I need to kind of style so it fits with the site. It works better than before but it only gives google indexed pages as search results, so its not as fresh as the pligg search, if it worked that is.

For the image quality, I found that line in which it contains "$img->pSetQuality(100);" - I changed it to 80 for both of them and re-uploaded some images and they came out to be the same quality, pixalted!

Maybe I didn't understand. For both php scripts, its set to 100 initially. Was I supposed to change both?

    Thank you for anymore help.

pligg avatar is so small, just 15x15 and 30x30 so don't expect more contrast between 80% and 100%

if you want high quality avatar. you should edit it on photoshop and save with 30x30px (or your avatar size)
if you upload big avatar and let php resize your image, avatar will come with low quality

    I see.

Is it possible with PHP for an image to be resized to a smaller size and still retain its original quality (unlikely) or at least a better quality?

I can make use of PHP, but was hoping for something automated.
