I wasn't aware email activation worked with v9.9. That's good to know. I had a feeling Pligg would jump all over this. This is the first time I have heard of a software "being advertised for sale" to exploit a weakness. Glad you guys are almost finished. :-)

I realize it's a pain to approve each and every story, but it's better than nothing.

I have been testing this for the last few weeks and it works great, though, there is one caveat. While it puts new stories in moderation, Tags will be published. So in theory, you can still get 'tag bombed', with the tag link leading to the spam article anyway. But all in all, it is a first step that is an absolute must IMO.

Thank you for bringing this up. I edited my original post to reflect this provision (http://forums.pligg.com/core-develop...html#post51813)

I tested it on my dev server and it works. Only the published and queued showed up. Please test it on yours and let us know.

How do you set up email based activation? I can't find anything on that

For basic spam yes it does but auto programs have found a way..

I found a very common field in all the spam account which is now blocked from registering ... Not gonna mention it as it will change..

Its worth studying the spam...

No it can't break reCAPTCHA.

Are you sure you have it configured correctly?

reCAPTCHA is supposed to be the most secure CAPTCHA system - it must be that you have not configured it proper.
