I've had no problem with the Bot and I'm targeted by spammers frequently. I'm running the email activation mod with the submit anti-spam mod which limits new accounts to only posting 2 stories per day.

I did applied reCAPTCHA on most of my pliggsite, one of them = rakanblog.com, but it stated on AutoPligg site that it can break CAPTCHAs :-

My understanding is that once the user has an account they can then run amok with this software...

OK edit I read a few comments above. BTW when you use recaptcha they just sign up manually and plug in their program. I'm renaming my register.php (disable registration) until a fix is posted.

But it DID NOT stated that it can break reCAPTCHA. reCAPTCHA is only one of those four CAPTCHAs the was built-in with Pligg. Maybe the CAPTCHA that AutoPligg mentioned was the default Pligg captcha, not reCAPTCHA.

Btw, I've heard that in order for AutoPligg to work, it needs the "God" account. Thus, AuthoPligg needs to login as "God" before creating accounts and submitting stories. And from that point, we can say that AutoPliggs' target are those Pligg installations who didn't bother to change the "God" account. If this is true, then AutoPligg will not work if you change the password of the "God" account.

Yes - a simple password change for God would stop AutoPligg.

@catchpen : email based activation is no more for sale - it is now part of Pligg code and we are ramping it up for the release.

hey guys,

I changed the god account password for my site several months ago when I set it up, and I'm still getting autopligged.

I will try the reCAPTCHA, hopefully that will work until a solution is found. Keep up the good work guys.
