Up/down voting would be nice. I temporary use the 5 Star voting with 3 Stars as neutrally, 1 and 2 as "down voting" and 4 and 5 as "upvoting". This is simmilar, but you can not watch how manny positive/negative votes a Story has, only everage.

Btw. it would be nice to see the exact voting from User on the tab "who voted" under the story for 5 Starvoting (up/down voting if it is available). Instead of seeing only that user x Voted for the story display the Number of stars or "+" "-" beside the username so you can see what the user voted.

Best Regards

I read people on this board saying that they want to add a forum to Pligg. However Digg, Pligg type CMS' *are* forums, and so are blogs, and /. type sites. It's all depends on presentation layout and on how the messages and topics are ordered. The messages may be in chronological order, flat or as threaded discussions.

So my suggestion would be to make Pligg more flexible regarding formatting.

Regarding posting I would like the users to contribute original content instead of posting the same old tired links, so the link requirement should be optional, maybe an admin switch.

As for what makes Pligg original, the rating of content/links by using the 5 stars or the "diggs" or positive count, I would like to see this much improved. Think of it as a forum poll! What if the user is allowed to chose, or enter his own criteria for how the story will be rated? I think this is a worthwhile addition that would set it apart from the other digg imitators out there. I sure could use it.

A user page would be nice too, sort of a mashup between myspace and digg. Sure this has been done before, (i.e. newsvine) but it can be a simple static subset of xhtml/css page.

What about forcing users to vote for N stories before making them able to submit?

Many users just submit stories but they do not vote anything. The community needs votes to work.

Great job!

How about:
- Allow HTML in Comments, and/or
- Add a Links section where URLs can be input (I know the Comment section will accept URLs now but it messes up the display) and a separate Links section should be neat.

Well, there's definitely been quite a bit of improvements with all of the pligg releases. There's still a couple that I would love to see right out of the box.

Having a great EVB (External Vote Button) would enable everyone to easily market their sites on various other popular sites/forums.

Also, having a bridge with Joomla/Mambo would basically make it compatible with other sites giving more room to implement some other ideas.

I would like to see five star rating with comments and display of the average as it is with stories.

The stories of a certain user should be displayed for each category by request, maybe by changing the category sidebar to a context-sensitive one with user.php.

Full OpenID support is a must for interaction on dozens of Web 2.0 applications therefore the good work of Ash should be expanded to full functionality.

Edit: I forgot an story-sensitive calendar as a sidebar like wordpress has one (http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/get_calendar). This offers a fast update for less used pligg installations and an alternative way to navigate through the stories for every kind of installation.

You know when you ping a blog of your to one of those ping host service such as technorati or blog.gs and so on, and then your new blog post automatically let those specific sites that you are ping to know about your update post.

Why don't Pligg has the same capability where users or webmasters of their websites can ping to Pligg for their newly update news, blogs, and so on?

It would say it´s better to let them set a marker for admins if someone violates the forum rules. Deleting should be their job otherwise critical (and constructive) comments could disappear.

A basic implementation of a simple calendar can be found here:
http://www.dynarch.com/demos/jscalendar/simple-2.html

Maybe some can put a frame around it and offer it as a sidebar module :-)
