How Pligg could become #1 CMS

I am using Pligg since 0.6 or earlier and I I love it but for me it's still a niche CMS. I'd love to see it become more popular.

    Some suggestions:

    1. Add a real wiki, not just another forum.
    2. Common questions should rank #1 in Google (tough part, but with pagerank sculpting it should be doable)
Read Matt cuts blog for some info about PR sculpting. Well, I won't give away what Google recently changed but it's important.. just "follow" Matt's blog and you will find out what I am talking about.

    3. The following queries should be well documented, because those are the most important queries of every CMS:

    - On What Category am I?
    - On What Story am I?
    - On What Page am I?
    ..
there are other queries that should be easier to implement, just look how Wordpress does it, they are doing a good job at it, although it's not even a CMS.

    4. Completely remove $cached_categories and everything it has to do with it, a CMS should never rely on cached categories to work properly.
    5. Do more promotion, ask some popular pligg sites to feature you.
    6. .. there are probably some other points I forgot

    1. The wiki area acts much like a real wiki. Users are thrown by the style because it looks like a forum, but if you look carefully any forum member can edit the main wiki pages by clicking on an Edit link at the bottom of the first (sometimes second) post.
    2. We are actively working on improving search results, but for the most part Google is very accurate with representing the best threads whenever I use it to search for a thread from the past.
    3. I'm not sure what you're getting at with this. Pligg templates are able to produce breadcrumbs and other features to highlight what pages you are on. For categories, search results, stories, profiles, etc. most of the data is there it's just a matter of a template developer making use of it. I think that the default template "Wistie" does a pretty good job at this. If you have a more specific request let me know and we'll add it in.
    4. Are cached categories causing you problems? We haven't noticed any issues since we started the 1.0.0 series and changed our category admin panel.
    5. We do our best to promote ourselves, but you can always do better. We're currently working on creating partnerships with major webhosts such as Dreamhost, Bluehost, Arvixe and Gigapros. All four of those hosts now offer an easy way to install Pligg if you are a customer. If you have any other ideas about who specifically we should contact, or what types of marketing and promotion we could improve on let us know. We're always open to new suggestions.

If you have any other comments (and this applies to everyone, not just warefare) feel free to leave a reply. As long as people offer constructive criticism and other helpful advice we are happy to listen.

On a side note we are working on a few improvements to the forums and Pligg.com that will probably be rolled out in a couple weeks. We will be reorganizing the forums and removing a lot of forums (moving existing threads into similar forums). I realize that the forums can be a pain to navigate when there are so many categories and a lot of posts aren't being put in the correct forums.

I am also in the middle of designing a new area that will be added to Pligg.com to allow users to submit their site to a list of Pligg sites. I'm not going to get into the details until we are closer to finishing this though.
