    Could This Work for me?

    Hey all,
Been looking around the web for a good CMS, that would let my friends and I set up something of a Review site, where we can just goof off on.
We had recently attempted to use ModX, but I can't begin to explain to you the frustration that that CMS has given us.

What we have been attempting to do is make a website where we would have different sections to the site, e.g. Games, Technology, Sports, Automotive, etc. etc. and have it setup where, when you hover over one of those links, your given the categories that go with that section, so for Sports as an example, if you put your mouse over the word sports, a drop down box will appear giving you a list of choices. You could click on Sports and be given all news in the sports section, or choose Football, for all football articles, or baseball for all baseball articles, etc. And each section would be independent of each other, and from the Home Page, which we would use to post site wide news, like "Here's what's happening in the sports section... etc."

Aside from that, i'm also looking for a uniform, site wide login for users, so they can leave comments, as well as a news program that shows author names (ModX did not do that...), as well as admins.

We know that there will be coding involved however, I myself wanna avoid having to make a website from scratch and have it just fall apart due to crappy coding skills, haha, but what I am trying to find out is if Pligg could do what we need? I've read as much as I can and I apologize for asking this, but I hate to have to download it, install it, set it all up and then realize that it won't work for what we need, haha... Done that twice already, not looking forward to reading lines of code, setting up a template for another CMS that we find out doesn't work for what we need it too!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I think Pligg is cabable to do all that but I'd use maybe something lighter and more flexible CMS.
I think you should go with Wordpress. That is easy to modify, there's a huge list of plugins and tutorials to help you build what you need. All features that you've listed here are more or less simple to do with Wordpress.

If it's just you and a few friends you could go with Wordpress with a few plugins. If you want to open it up to more users and allow users to sort by number of votes and some other features then go with Pligg.
