Hello,
I contracted a customized install of pligg over a year ago.
It's version 9.6 and I would like to upgrade it to 9.9.5 and also add some anti-spam mods.
It's my understanding that upgrading with templates is very difficult. I'd like to do this myself but I am by no means php wizard. I've been able to install pligg myself in the past but this might be over my head.
Could someone recommend a programmer I can hire for this?
Or if this is possible to do myself could someone guide me in the right direction.

Thanks

So after following the template conversion instructions from the link you provided I would then do incremental upgrades from pligg version 9.6 to 9.9.5?

No, I would suggest doing it like this.
1. Back up everything, Template, Core Files, and SQL
2. Then do an incremental upgrade to pligg 9.9.5
3. Then go through the process of updating your template.

Yikes! I finally got my template up and running. I had to edit an additional 20 or so files. Luckily half the problems I was having have already been covered by other forum members. But solving the other half was very tedious, basically a ton of trial and error and using the Find and Replace command. I just need to work out a few minor kinks and just hope the site continues to run smoothly.

And "Understanding Pligg Templates" was a big help to get me going in the right direction. I was lost for a while, but wish I'd looked there first.

Thanks for your help.

If I understand this thread correctly, upgrading Pligg when using a template (especially one not built into the system already) is not like updating WordPress (one click update and the template is unaffected)?

Also, when you say "incremental" upgrade, do you mean upgrade one release at a time (from 9.7 that could be a lot of upgrades)?

Finally, it sounds like the template almost has to be rebuilt after the upgrade.
