    Can Pligg do this?

I'd like to create a site with the following features.

    1) It would look similar to CNN where the top 10 or so stories from all categories are listed at the top of the page and then further down on the page each 10-12 categories are listed with the top 2-3 articles under each category.

    2) I'd like it to subscribe to the RSS feeds of certain blogs of my choosing and then automatically add the posts to my site as they become available in the RSS feeds.

    3) When posts are added, I'd like it to look at the tags of the posts in the RSS feed. If a tag matches one of the categories on my site, it would be added to that category. There would be the potential of adding a post to multiple categories.

    4) I'd like people to be able to recommend a blog's RSS feed to add. I would have to approve it. I don't want people to be able to submit individual articles/posts.

Can someone tell me if each of these features is possible? And if they are possible with existing functionality or if I would need to have someone develop any of them?

    Thanks,
    Paul

1 and 2 I know Pligg can handle with built in features. 1 would take some work to develop a template to do that sort of layout, but it's been done on Pligg sites like Kreativenews.

3 I think could be done with the RSS import module, but I'm not sure. I no longer toy with it or support that module because there are way too many support requests for that module.

    4. I think Chuckroast may have already developed some sort of module to do this, but I'm not sure. Hopefully he will respond with an answer tomorrow as to whether this exists yet.

Let me end with a quote that I say to everyone who has a "Can Pligg do this?" question. "Anything can be done with Pligg, it's just a matter of time and money". Just be willing to invest in a developer or designer to do it for you if you don't have the skills to do it yourself. Also try not to expect developers to work at a ridiculously low rate, you will get what you pay for.

Hi Yankidank, thanks for the reply.

The kreativenews site is almost exactly the layout I'm looking for. Do you know if there are any free templates like that?

I'll install Pligg and try out the RSS import module. If anyone here is more familiar with that module and can show me how to automatically import to specific categories, please let me know.

Thanks also for the advice about developers. I'm really excited about the possibilities of this site and the capabilities of Pligg to make it happen.

I believe Yankidank was talking about the "My RSS" module available here.
It allows users to add a rss feed in their profile. The feed is then automatically set up and waits for processing in the RSS Import module.
