    Server Overload

I'm using Pligg 9.95, My website is down iDig

I received an e-mail from my hosting provider IXWEBHOSTING that my site (http://idig.co.il) was consuming more resources than permitted.

"We are notifying you that your account, or a portion or feature of your account has caused an overload on one of our servers. We have a shared hosting environment that we must maintain at a certain level of performance. This performance is monitored and balanced by us, however there are times when accounts can cause the server’s load to increase degrading the performance for all other customers on this server."

I have no idea what to do!

Try updating your Pligg to a more recent version. Pligg Beta 9.9.5 came out quite a long time ago and has undergone many improvements since.

When you use a lot of rss feeds loading less than 10 min it will take a lot of cpu. I changed allreaddy 2 providers they can not handle it. (like bravenet more than 7 miljoen users). JP

    What about sencuur.

There are a few things you can do to optimize your pligg sites overall performance, this message you received will usually come form MYSQL load or as mentioned RSS cron runs.

A few steps you can take to begin with.

    • As other have said update your Pligg version to v1.0.2.
    • Get a VPN or above hosting package where you have full root and server config access.
    • Use a php accelerator cache like APC, X-Cache, eAccelerator etc.
    • Turn on and set your MYSQL query cache to 16MB or above.
    • Optimize your database tables often, we usually use a cron job every 6 hours or so.
    • Dont have lots of rss feeds importing at once.

I don't know as yet if Pligg supports Memcached but thats another good option for high traffic sites if it does now or in the future.

Hope this gives you a few ideas.
