*Added user import function. Takes pre-existing forum user info and imports it into the pligg database. See attachment in previous post.

I'm proud to say that pligg.com is the first to be demonstrating this integration (besides the original author). All 4,000+ forum users now can log in to http://demo.pligg.com with their vbulletin user/password combination.

Simon: contact me via PM with an email address that I can paypal you a donation for this.

Next logical steps would seem to be to get into the way the session cookies work so they can be shared by both vB and Pligg, eliminatng the need to logon between apps.

Would it be possible to trick Pligg into using vB's user table instead of its own? That would avoid the import/duplication issue...

Wouldn't there still be a need to import / duplicate at least some of the user data, such as user level, karma etc...? I suppose you *could* add those extra columns to the vB user table, but it would mean more code changes in pligg than its worth. I'm sure cookie sharing would be possible to eliminate the 2nd login requirement. I might experiment a bit later on.

Update: i think i've got cookie sharing working on my test setup. Going to run a few more tests, then update the mod to include a cookie sharing option. I'll probably then start a new thread with the download in, since this thread is getting a little long!

Upload the next release to the Downloads section when you have it finished. I already put the 1.00 version up there.

Latest version (1.10) uploaded here. Added the option to share cookies. It also adds 1 extra column to your pligg user table, so if already installed, you'll either need to re-import all users again, or change the pligg_populate.php script to update (rather than insert) the new 'user_id_vb' data.

If testing, please report back any bugs here.

this is fantastic.

I had a client asking me about this some time ago. I'd like to do some testing if needed.
