Login not working when importing data from backup
I wanted to to upgrade to Pligg 1.0.3 from 1.0.1 to try out the status update and facebook module but I don't want to take the risk to screw up the main site as it has just gained some popularity. So I tried to do a fresh install of pligg 1.0.3 in a new folder and populate the database with the backup from the main site. Everything went well (I think), the news link showed up etc. but unfortunately I cant log in to the admin panel and in fact all the login username and password are not working.
Upon installing 1.0.3 I had set up a new admin login credential, so anyone knows this might be the issue?
Also, what is the best way to populate a new database from backup data?
My plan is to try out on another folder first to see if I can replicate the main site. The purpose of this is when I decided to upgrade the main site, in case something goes wrong, at least I have a backup plan.
Thanks in advance for the help!

It sounds like you ran the installer when upgrading, instead of running the upgrade script. If this is the case the installer would overwrite all of your data including the user credentials.
I suggest that you upload your old MySQL database to a new database through the Phpmyadmin Import method. Then run through the Pligg upgrade script to upgrade the new database to the latest version. You will also need to edit the settings.php file to change the location installed to the new subdirectory. The my_pligg_base value should look something like /newfolder . Once you have finished the update you will need to change this directory from Admin > Configure > Location installed.
