I am being bomberded with spam registrations on my pligg site since I made it live yesterday. I have tried both reCaptcha and Math Question but no luck.

What else can I do?

This sounds ominous as 1.0 is not even fully released! Worrying that IP address banning and Askimet etc dont seem to be as ready as the rest of the new pligg. I would have thought suppressing spam would be number one developer priority now, using a set of easy, working tools. Pligg will die if this release does not solidly allow people to manage spam.

Yes I agree, I know webmasters who have left pligg solely because of their lack of spam filtering. I hope developers come up with some solid solution.

Spam will always be a continuous fight since pligg is an open submission system. All social networks get spam. There is no single solution and there never will be. "Spam submissions" is also a very loose term. Are these people trying to sell something or just trying to get back links? Are these submissions just something you don't agree with or off topic? Just ranting that someone spammed you helps absolutely no one.

There's a difference between bot spam and human spam. If bots are registering and passing through the captcha and email verification I would like to learn more details. For both human and bot spam you can apply a bunch of modules to help stop it, which is covered elsewhere on the forum.

The Twitter Module for Pligg CMS!
Register, Login, and Submit Stories with Twitter. An absolute MUST HAVE for all Pligg sites!

I don't know for sure if its a human or bot spam thats attacking my site but it continues to happen even after I enabled Akismet & reCaptcha.

Thanks chuckroast & Yankidank. I find the captcha and email verification have helped a lot. It seems to me that the spam on my site is coming from people (Indian Bollywood). Since my site focuses on local content, I was able to simply ban India by IP. Obviously, that's not a good idea for sites with non-local content.

I do think the Akismet module will help quite a bit when it's completed as I find it does a great job in Wordpress. I would also like to see "KillSpam this user" delete the stories, hide the user, and put the user/email address into a banned list so they cannot re-register with same email. IP banning will be welcomed in the future. Thanks developers!

While tracking down my site member I discovered a visit from http://ymf.net/socialsites.php, this page contains hundreds of pligg based sites, some of them are marked with the person-member that is spamming it, check if your site is listed, place the mouse over the bookmark link to see if your site is being spammed and who is spamming it....

Pligg is not spammed by humans since its so easy to spam it with script. thats why you are bombarded no matter if you delete them, they can easy register with 1 click and send 100000 posts with 1 click.

Now count how much clicks you need to delete 100000 posts

P.S. other social media sites dont have bots spamming only human spamming.
