How I can create thumbnail from url?

When you submit a link on Digg, Reddit or Facebook it takes a thumbnail from any image on that URL. On Facebook I can even chose which image I'd like.

Has anybody an idea how to install that function on a pligg site?

What I found out...
Here I found a tutorial which shows how to add a screenshot from a linked website to the pligg wistie template. I works fine and it also works with other templates like pliggmeme but I would prefere thumbnails from an image of a linked article and not from the website....

I already have your modul but there is no image thumbnail from the submitted link....I really want to have something like facebook and digg offers.

When you submit a link on facebook or digg it adds automatically a thumbnail from the linked article (if there is an image) you even can choose between several thumbnails if there are several images on the linked website.

Your modul seems only to support some photo sharing sites like flickr but I need something which supports also content sites like blogs (wordpress) and newspaper sites.

Same here, HATE to have a video sharing site...without thumbnails showing on FB when shared!

Is there nobody who knows if there is a modul or a peace of code which automatically adds a thumbnail to submitted links? If you don't know from what I am talking look at facebook and Digg.

Snapcasa.com provides website-thumbnails but that is not what I am looking for. Go to facebook or digg an submit a link. If the linked article has an image it will automatically be added to your link you've submitted to facebook or digg. Thats what I want to.

So it is nothing new. It is just a standard people nowadays are asking for. It is difficult to compete sites like Digg with an outdated technology.

PS: Also wordpress (buddypress) is offering this technology.
