I was just enjoying a little success from my pligg site when I encountered this problem. First my hosting provider sent me an email that I am consuming more resources than allowed on shared hosting so I upgraded to VPS. Then the same thing happen - server overload. It appears that the log details that they sent me showed almost all of them are search.php queries.
Then, I have reason to believe that my site is under attack. Someone in a forum bragged that he hacked my website. He listed my site and another pligg site so he probably have exploited some security hole in pligg.
I am not really a coding person so I don't really know where to look at and how to fix this. I really appreciate if somebody can shed some light so that I can try something to overcome this issue. I have no idea if my site is under attack or not (heavy search.php queries seems a bit odd).
A little details of my site, I get 300-400 uniques daily. I am using pligg 1.0.3 (does to 1.0.4 can really solve this issue?). I enabled status update module (was gonna upgrade to status wall but now.. I dunno). I don't use rss importer anymore (disabled now) as all of the links are now submitted by my users. I get around 20-50 user submitted links a day.
Again, appreciate if somebody can help me with this. I've invested a lot on my site - both time and money. I really don't want to go down without a fight. Thank you in advance for the help. Let me know if more information is needed.
