I doubt if Pligg has a well optimized database.
And i think this issue is more for newer version of pligg.
I have seen many sites that are installed on dedicated servers but don't have a good speed when number of submitted links is increasing.
Can you review database of Pligg again and optimize it more?
Also lease inform me about your review and your plans for it.
