Animated favicon - .php or .tpl?

I need to change it to animated favicon with .gif

Pligg Developer
The line calling the favicon.ico is located in the pligg.tpl file of whatever template you are using. I would not recommend using just a .gif file as many browser will not support it. You can convert your animated gif to a .ico file using an online converter, such as the one here.

The favicon itself rests in the root directory of Pligg, as favicon.ico.
