Sort published news by popularity, not recency

How do you sort the published news on the homepage (index.html) by popularity and not recency? I use the westie template and at default it sorts the submissions by how recently they were posted.

In your index.php file find

if(!isset($_REQUEST['search'])){$search->orderBy = "link_published_date DESC";}

change to

if(!isset($_REQUEST['search'])){$search->orderBy = "link_votes DESC";}

This will Sort your Published news by the most votes.
