Let us solve this once and for all - URL Method 2 problems

Hi All,

I have been trying to work the URL2 method since Jan'10, like many others.

I have also read many many explanations and solutions from Yankidank/Chuck and other pliggers. I appreciate the effort PLIGG team is making to explain it to everyone.

This is what I have tried and tested till now:

1.) ADMIN -> CONFIGURE -> URL2 is set

2.) HTACCESS file was renamed to .htaccess using the category management section of pligg

3.) MOD_REWRITE is enabled on my localhost apache server - XAMMP - Confirmed.

4.) Tried other pligger's solution of adding a 'p' to rewriterule ^live in .htaccess.

5.) I am on pligg 1.1.0, so I know I need not add any other code in my .htaccess file (thanks to explanations by Yankidank)

6.) I am trying this on local host and i do not have any subfolder.

But it is still not working.

Let us all solve this problem once and for all. what say team?

Confirm that step 2 is working. The script in the category management page will only work on some servers. I would think hat the majority of servers won't support the file renaming feature.

If you have installed in a subdirectory (ex. http://localhost/trunk), make sure that you edit the .htaccess file. The file has notes in it that you can follow to figure out how it should be configured for subdirectories or subdomains.

I've had issues with just running Pligg on XAMMP, let alone trying out URL Method 2.

thanks for giving your inputs. Yes, I have observed the changes when we rename the .htaccess file so I can assure you that step 2 is working.

My installation is not in a sub-directory.

any ideas? :-)
