Script Terminating Process?

Hello,

I've been running Pligg 1.0.0 for a while now but every once in a while it overloads my shared hosting. Their tech support says that "Your script is not terminating properly, and the processes started by it do not exit. " and this usually pertains to index.php or 'submit.php'. They have to manually kill the process to get it running again. How can I fix this? I am not ready to upgrade just yet, I need a temporary solution before I migrate to a newer version.

There are improvements made to the latest versions that might already fix your problem, but you'll have to make the upgrade.

One such example is a bug that allowed users to display EVERY story on a single index.php page. I forget how the bug worked (something to do with search results), but I could see how that could cause the server some stress if enough users were accessing the page frequently.

Not only are bugs like this addressed with each new version, but we are also patching security holes that should not be left open as well as making great strides in spam protection.
