New Pligger here...Love it so far!

When i first installed Pligg, I got a few errors.."Wrong Refferer" being one of them. After a new clean installation, the errors were gone as well as the wrong refferer bug. Until today I had no errors (about a week) and one of my new members reported an error when they tried to modify their profile. The "Wrong Refferer" bug came back for this user, but on my end it did not show up until just now when I tried to modify my profile. I debugged the issue using this method: Wrong Referrer and that fixed the error momentarily, but now the "wrong refferer" bug appears as "=http://www.burninginfo.comWrong Referrer" in IE.

As mentioned in the other wiki entry I wrote, just find the php page you discovered the message on and remove the line that is checking for the referrer. I believe we've managed to fix this bug but we are not at a good point to do another release just yet. We will need to put out a RC4, despite me thinking previously that RC3 would be the last build before 1.0. You can probably expect a new RC version early next week.

Remove wrong referral code from pligg 1.0 RC3 will make pligg 1.0 RC3 less safer than pligg 9.9.5 beta? Or wrong referrer was a completely new addition, and remove it won't make it less safer but having it will add more security? Thanks...

We are working on making it so that you won't even have to remove the code from our next release. We weren't expecting to many kinks from adding that bit of code in and have been doing our best to work out the bugs. This is the point of having release candidate versions.
Removing the code won't make you site much less secure, we only added it as a fix for a potential type of hack that we haven't seen anyone even attempt so far. It's not a big problem to worry about, but our position is the more security the better which is why we've put it in there. Expect an update with another RC version soon to try to patch this problem.

Hey there Yankidank,

I just installed the new version (great job by the way!), but it seems that thsi Wrong Referer is still an issue with the bookmark link (and perhaps others). Can I assume it was either forgotten or a workaround wasn't found?

Thanks,
Steve

Fix is to remove the following line from submit.php
Code:
check_referrer();
We left the check referrer code in as a security and spam blocking solution, but you are welcome to manually remove it if you want to use the bookmarklet.

Have you logged into the Admin user account? I believe settemplate.php will work after you do that. Otherwise you will need to put a link to the settemplate.php page somewhere on your domain to click from. Wrong referrer is used to check that people aren't coming through from other sites trying to exploit your site. Google around for a more detailed answer.
I'm not sure that I understand your second question.
