If you keep up with the news...
Google now has stated they will be de-indexing websites that grab content from original websites online.
Google Search Engine blog news
I have been in a conversation this afternoon to ask Google just what this means for established websites?
They said it means if your website is only grabbing content from other websites, and you are not creating anything new on your website, you will be de-indexed.
Well i find this hard to believe there are plenty of top websites out there that do this, and they have members out the butt, and a following to die for.
So will they de-index Digg, Reddit, Twitter, drudge, ?
No... you can bypass all of this by doing a few things to your website.
First of all it's Ok to grab content, but you must also put your OWN content on your website. It can not be someone else's content from another website only
You MUST use the noindex/nofollow on all content you did not publish yourself.
If you say that 'users love your site' then ensure that you have marketed your site now to be a resource of it's own standing - as sites like twitter are - even with the weight of questionable content on it.
These strategies will keep your website in good standing with Google's Search Engine.
I am not going to allow this to faze me in any way. I plan to go forward, and just do as Google likes. After all they have the Internet by the heels. To ignore them is website suicide.
I believe we need to now come up with ingenious ways to get around this. I know i am up to suggestions.
My suggestion is to come up with a few bridges for blog scripts to work with pligg.
comments? suggestions?

Encourage your members to submit unique content, instead of just submiting copy paste content make them submit a summary of the article.

I use Oceanic template so the summary is out. The unique content may work, but many members of some pligg boards just would rather copy paste. I have several that copy paste. Plus pligg grabs a summary on it's own for some templates when you submit.
