Exclamation Send email to 10,000+ members

    Hi,
    I operate http://sticktothis.com
I installed the the send announcement model 0.2 on that site

I replaced the email address in the sendannouncement.tpl
and just copy and pasted "http://sticktothis.com/module.php?module=sendannouncement" with out the "" and anything else into the end of admin_main_center.tpl ( cans see the link when I log into the admin panel)

We have more then 10,000 registered users
and when I go the the model enter the announcement which I want to send the page starts loading jet does not stop (waited for 12 hours)

    Did I do anything wrong?

    And if so what?

Is there another way to email my members?

    thanks chris

The send announcement module is not designed for such a large number of users. A list that large won't work in 1 batch, you will need to have someone modify the script so that it breaks it up into groups of maybe 100 users at a time.

As Yankidank said, i think you can't use this module for large number of users and you should use other scripts like Interspire's one or any other script you like..

I just remembered that I wrote a tutorial and provided a sample script to Export User Data to an Excel Document. You could then use that document to send out a mass email to users using another script like Interspire's or MailChimp's service.

    Hi there,

I followed the tutorial, as I wanted to be able to export my users to Aweber. (I had the newsletter module installed by Pligg).

Your Pligg colleague Nikolaos emailed me the link to your info (Export User Data to Microsoft Excel | Pligg CMS) and so I added the code you provided to the root folder of Bookmarkcount.com and it crashed - as you can see here: Bookmarkcount - share your own business ideas and stories

I am not a technical person, but I just copied the code, pasted into into .php file and uploaded to the root directory. I thought I could simply remove it if it didn't work....I've removed the file but the site still looks crazy, it's got the below message written all over it:

Warning: Table './zockedi_count/pligg_votes' is marked as crashed and last (automatic?) repair failed in /home/zockedi/public_html/bookmarkcount.com/libs/db.php on line 242

I was be hugely grateful for any advice you could provide. Thank you in advance.

Try this to fix your pligg_votes table. Hopefully it will resolve whatever might have happened to your database.

    1. Log in to PhpMyAdmin
    2. Select your Pligg Database (usually from a dropdown menu on the left)
    3. Select the pligg_votes table.
    4. Select the Operations navigation link. This is sometimes found under a "More" dropdown link.
    5. Click on the "Repair Table" link.
