Hi,

I've just encountered a weird problem. Yesterday, when I added some stories and tested the script, it all worked perfectly.
Today I started adding my own categories. After I added a couple, I noticed that I'm not able to see any category names or stories at all.

If I log out, category names appear and the stories are visible

If I log in (regardless whether it is admin or user login) I don't see any categories or stories whatsoever.

I'm puzzled. Should I reinstall the script?
Please help!

I saw a similar problem. Because I want every user to see all the categories, I did this hack and it seems to work:

edit libs/html1.php and libs/search.php

find the mySQL queries in the PHP that SELECT user_category ... WHERE user_login = ...

change the $user_login variable (i.e., variable indicating current user) to 'admin'

I did this because I noticed that newly registered users lack any categories in the users.user_categories field. The admin user seems to get all the categories, which is just what I want. My problem seems to be solved. Hope this helps

Doesn't this configuration raise security issues? My guess is. this migt be quite dangerous, wouldn't it? - I have ancountered the same problems, but my admin doesn't see all my categories either. I see just half of them, and it is driving me nuts, as I have seen this issue for a couple of days now and i cant find a solution yet!

I have the same problems on all my sites, the categories are limited to 68 or 88 cats, nothing to do for now but to wait for a patch or an upgrade..

Try to download and run the latest /install/upgrade.php script from the SVN. It will attempt to upgrade your database which I think wil fix this issue. There was a problem with earlier code that limited how many characters a database table was allowed to hold, so sites that have 80+ categories would experience the problem mentioned earlier. The upgrade changes the number of allowed characters to a higher number so that you shouldn't continue to have this problem. You may need to edit and save your categories to save the changes after running the upgrade script.

There is still a problem with categories not showing for logged in users. Also now when I order the categories in the admin area, the category_order in the database is coming up with negative numbers.
