I would like to add about 300 categories and subcategories. Now I went into PHPMySQL, to figure out how to add those, but I don't have a clue what the rgt and left table are good for! Can anybody help? Thanx a lot!

Why the heck would you have that many categories? You do realize that users will need to 1. Select 1 out of those 300 categories during submission and 2. Navigate through 300 categories. Why aren't you using tags in place of most of those categories?

Create a Macro? Idk why you would want so many pages though...If your website is that broad I wouldn't waist your time. Just create like 50 websites

I would need these Subcategories, as for there shall be a lot of theme specific content, which yet is so specific, that people would much rather be confused, if I wouldn't relate them into categories. This is why I really have to make all those categories, but it takes awful lot of time doing it manually.

Can anybody please help me out, telling me what the lft and the rght table are good for, and how I could enter adequate data into those fields? THANKX

unfortunately I am not that much of a programmmer, that I could easily handle this task. I have thought about solutions like that as well, but the most conveniant way for me was to check MySQL, which is where I found the lft and rght table, which are fully filled with strange data, where I cannot really figure out, what this is good for. If you had an idea how to generate a Macro, which would help me entering the data for

Hi Cyrus,

I myself have hundreds of categories.... In PhpMyAdmin lest say the first categories is amateur and its category order is 1 and it has 2 sub categories pics and vids lets say... Than you will see in the table

- Amateur - cat order 1
- rgt 6
- lft 1

- Amateur/pics - cat order 1
- rgt 3
- lft 2

- Amateur/vids - cat order 2
- rgt 5
- lft 4

It means Amateur has cat between 1 and 6 but was is important is the cat order which will displays your cats correctly..

Thanks this information is quite handy. Did you encounter following problem as well (?): When logged in, only half the categories show up. But if you re logged out, you see everything...?

Thats so odd!

That means, if I had e.g. some more subdirectories
Categories:

- Amateur - cat order 1
- rgt 9
- lft 1

- Amateur/pics - cat order 1
- rgt 3
- lft 2

- Amateur/vids - cat order 2
- rgt 8
- lft 4

-Amateur/vids/abc - cat order 3
-lft 5
-rgt 6

Amateur/vids/def - cat order 3
-lft 7
-rgt 8
