CHMOD to 777?

Hi, bought ajax chat and installed it but in the chat example(txt) the developer installed, there he says please make sure that this "/modules/ajaxchat/chat.txt CHMOD is changed to 777.

How do I do that and what is chmod anyway? Have checked the forum but ddn´t get exact relationship to my problem.

CHMOD is the common why of telling the sever what permissions a file can have.
As a webmaster you should already be aware of it. In fact you can''t install Pligg CMS without CHMOD certain files. If you are still unable to figure out how. I can only suggest contacting your web host support.

Thanks, I actually figured it out later that the files were already in enabled form. I guess I had stress at the moment.
