9.8 beta used a different standard for handling language files, plus it is really out of date and will be missing a lot of lines from the 1.0.0 language file. If you want to use it as a starting point you can compare the 9.8 beta language file with the 1.0.0 version and merge them so that you will have all of the new lines included. You can use software like Winmerge to accomplish this.

Next you will want to rename the file, because that older version of Pligg used a different naming standard, to lang_spanish.conf and place that file in the /languages directory.

Finally you will open up the admin panel, then navigate to Configure and then Misc. Under there you should see a language option that is set to "english" by default. Change the value to "spanish" and your site will then begin using the lang_spanish.conf language file.

If you were installing Pligg for the first time or upgrading you would be presented with a list of supported languages to choose from. By selecting one of the supported languages it will automatically download the latest version of that language and set your site to use that language file. Unfortunately we have yet to receive the help from a Spanish speaking translator so we do not yet offer that language. At this point we do offer the following: Chinese (simplified), German, Thai, and English.
