Hi,

I am Using 9.5 Version and Template yget IEDig / We are suffering from some problem.

While Registration of new user Invalid characters Error not showing and in the place of Error only red Square spot is coming. Please Help Me.

i have the same problem with pligg 1.0.2 ...

now i installed it totally new from the beginning and its still the same sh*** ....
doesnt matter wich username i try, when i klick the verify button the error message:

Invalid characters

appears (

nobody has a solution ?

so i tried everything... delete my whole database and the whole directory at my hoster.
Nothing left from pligg

then i installed it completly new and did nothing after the installation except checking to register a new user

unfortunatly i have still the same problem:

e.g. i try to verify the username "paul" or "maik" or "anton" anyway, pligg always says " invalid characters"

dont know what else i can do ... but cant believe that i am the only one here in the forum with this problem (except the guy who started the topic)

anyone an idea please ???

I have no idea whats causing this problem for you. I can't duplicate your problem on you own server. Could you perhaps give us some more details about your server. What PHP and MySQL version is it using? Have you run /install/troubleshooter.php to check for any potential problems?

Exact same problem. Had unrelated problems during installation, but this one is a mystery. ANY username comes up as "name": Invalid characters (where name is whatever was typed in).

If you ignore the message and click "Create user" anyway - it comes back with an error message.

Unfortunately Pligg is unusable if people can't create usernames.

Fixed this issue yesterday, included it in the updated 1.0.2 download package. Just re-download 1.0.2 for the fix.

The problem was caused by servers where PCRE was compiled without UTF-8 support. You will need to update the checkfield.php and register.php files for the fix.

I was heaving a panic attack 5 minutes ago, after working one week on the template without testing the actual script

Using 1.1.5 I am encountering this same error. Would this be an issue with my checkfield.php files still with the newest version running?
