What Should I Do With My Pligg Site?

I own a Pligg site that I think is busy: it did 44 GB bandwidth last month. I bought the site a couple of years ago when I was inexperienced and had no idea what was involved to monetize such a site. Now it generates zero revenue yet is a 24/7 load on my server. With the site, my load averages 6. Without, it is never even 1. The server had about 300 other WP moneymakers and I fail to see any advantage to keeping the Pligg site. I do have about 10 global text links but does this even provide any SEO advantage? I'm on Pligg 1.1.1 and don't even want to consider upgrading to 2.

Does this site have any value to me that I fail to see?

    hmm..

first let me tell you nothing in this world works on it's own....
you should first get some ideas about what exactly pligg is.and why you should have a pligg site?
different peoples create pligg site for different purposes, some use this for non-profit objectives, some use to earn some bucks,or may be some people create it for CRATING A BIG THING (some big examples are as below)

    bizsugar.com
    designfloat.com
    cssleaf.com
    upnews.it
    and
    opendns..

all these are successful pligg sites with their own ideas and functionalities...

so you should first decide why you need a pligg site and what can you do with your pligg site?

    HOPE THIS HELPS..

Automated generic sites will not generate you any money. You're going to need to spend time on relevant content and maybe even some promotions of your own.

Ask yourself if you didn't run the site would you ever visit your seit? Would your site be something you would bookmark and frequent? If it's not then you have answered your own question because most likely no regular site visitor would willingly visit your site, let alone generate you any revenue.

To answer your question should you drop it? If you're not going to spend time on it making it an interesting site then yes, drop it like you would any other site that you have no interest in running or maintaining.

If the sites content is related to something you are interested in and would enjoy running then keep it but spend the time needed to make it popular / useful to site visitors.
