I am having an issue with my settings.php file. Every time I change a small setting like link count or user avatar size... something small like that... it will change my settings.php file to my hosting domain and not my actual domain name. This completely breaks my site because it doesn't know where to look for all of the CSS and stuff. I have had this bug happen twice before. I did a fresh installation, which seemed to counter it, but then it started again.

I also tried removing write permissions to settings.php but it will not load the admin pages without it being writable.

Thanks for any help with this.

Check your Admin > Configure > Location Installed page. This is where you change the location installed information that is saved to your MySQL database. The settings.php file will be overwritten with your MySQL details periodically.
