Is there any documentation that has been done lately? I know there was a post in early 2006 that said there would be some coming soon.

I wanted to understand the code and how it works so I can modify the layout and some other design features.

If there is no documentation on Pligg, is there something else similar with documentation? Thanks.

Unfortunately the only documentation that's up-to-date is what's in the README.txt and I don't think you can even call that documentation.

I too would like to echo the need for documentation. Heck, explain what all the configuration options are. For example...

what does "enable extra field" do.

And I saw in the code something about podcasting.. What's that?

1. Extra fields put more options in the sumbission area. You can name and configure them in libs/extra_fields.php

2. Podcasting feature is broken at the moment I believe but yank is updating it.

Don't know if the podcast feature can be fixed. I updated it to match the latest settings for Pligg, but it's only useful for sites that only allow mp3 files to be used as article urls. If you use a media file as the url for a story (mp3, mpeg, mp4, etc)
it will add that url to the podcast.php file so that users can subscribe to that podcast.php url as a podcast on software like itunes. If any non-media links are used it will mess up the rss rendering and won't work. So it's suggested that you only use this function on sites that are only allowing media file extensions for urls, which would require some customizing to pligg.

Thanks for the help. Follow-up questions. What at various field validation methods? Where can I find more about that?

I notice that you can't us an apostrophe in a catagory names. Is that by design or a bug?

This has been fixed in the latest code on svn. You can look there or I would think that sometime this week you may see a nightly testing build be released or even an official Beta 8.1.5.

You can now use apostrophe's, spaces, or just about any other character in category names.
