Hi:

As far as I know, there are no modules, plugins or updates that solve one of the basics of a good CMS: custom registration fields. To get this, I've had to do some very bad practice, which is using the Custom Profile Fields Module to create new columns in the user table (Mysql) and to allow them to then edit this fields, and hardcode this fields in the registration form template, to then modify user.php.

This is ofcourse not optimal, because now I can't update my site without deleting my changes.

Is there at least a TODO list where you include this feature?

Updating your site wouldn't cause you to lose the data, unless you aren't willing to perform manual template updates when they are necessary between upgrades.

A module to simplify the process is not on the horizon (at least not from me).
