    Creating new user from admin

    Hi there,

    I set up pligg here - gamersocial.me

It's not finished yet, but I tried signing up some accounts for the other admins via the "create new user" button within the admin page and then it shows a warning that the email hasn't been confirmed.

The other admins never received any email at all, they checked spam folders too.

They also tried logging in with the login details I created for them, they didn't work and the password emailed to them didn't work either ...

I tried to delete them and learnt here that for some crazy reason you can't delete users directly it needs to be done via phpmyadmin .. I did this only because there weren't any submissions, votes or other data that they'd submitted since they were new accounts.

They have then registered manually on the site and they received an email notification and then a green tick appeared next to their user accounts within the admin area.

So I have two questions really ...

    1) How come I can't create new users through the admin when the option is there? is there something I am not doing? (I am new to pligg)
    2) How come there is no easier way to delete users, I know there is killspam which I understand .. but still is there an easier way or is that it?

    Thanks!

    1. Once you create a user in the admin panel, you then must manually confirm the user by clicking on the icon to the right of their name.
    2. Users basically have two states. Active and inactive. If you were to delete a username, there would be nothing to stop someone from re-registering the same name over again. Spammers would love that.

Thanks Chuckroast, I thought there was something I was missing.

I've tried clicking on the icon to validate, it produces a popup with the title "confirmed email address" but the rest of the box is empty ... when I close the box the icon still shows as unconfirmed even after refreshing the page .. any idea's?

Thanks for the explanation, point taken on the spammers eek.

    Cheers

^ When you click on the warning icon, have you seen a popup that says "Confirmed Email Address ____ Success! xxxxx's email address has been confirmed." ?

    Btw, can't reproduce your problem.

Try right clicking on the notification icon and open the link in a new window. Then view the page source for that window and let us know what it contains.

Then have the users register their own accounts and verify their email addresses that way. Then promote their accounts by editing them through the user management page.
