Exclamation Sign-up/activation email not showing $username/$password etc

We have found that the sign-up/activation email is not showing $username/$password and other variable dependent items at all (except for $validation) - this is the original Pligg language file text:

Hello $username,\\r\\n\\r\\nWe\'ve sent you this email because you signed up for a new account on $domain. If you didn\'t mean to do that, you can safely ignore this message.\\r\\n\\r\\nVisit this link to activate your account:\\r\\n $validation \\r\\n\\r\\nYour Password is $password \\r\\n\\r\\nIf clicking the link doesn\'t work, copying the complete link address into your browser.Still having trouble? Contact us at $contactmail\\r\\n\\r\\nAfter activation of your account, you can login at $my_base_url$my_pligg_base\\r\\n\\r\\nEnjoy!\\r\\n \\r\\nThe Administrator
...and this is what is rendered:

Hello ,\r\n\r\nWe\'ve sent you this email because you signed up for a new account on Website Name. If you didn\'t mean to do that, you can safely ignore this message.\r\n\r\nVisit this link to activate your account:\r\n (validation link works correctly) \r\n\r\nYour Password is \r\n\r\nIf clicking the link doesn\'t work, copying the complete link address into your browser.Still having trouble? Any ideas? I should also point out that it DID previously work.

    Pligg version: 1.2.2

I'll check it out tonight or tomorrow and report back on what I find with my own install.

I just tested it out myself on the Pligg demo page and the registration email works fine. As you suspected, the problem is most likely related to your language file. Open it up in Winmerge and copy over the original line, save, upload, and test it out. I think that if you edit the line from the language web editor it may remove some formatting and break it.

UPDATE: As an experiment I just made a fresh install. Same problem - the variables do not appear in the activation email. No changes were made to the 1.2.2 code whatsoever.

The activation email is shown as this:

    Hello ,

We've sent you this email because you signed up for a new account on My Site. If you didn't mean to do that, you can safely ignore this message.

Visit this link to activate your account:

If clicking the link doesn't work, copying the complete link address into your browser.

The password reset email is sent with the correct variables, but not the sign-up/verification email. Any support for this - we would love to publish our site, it looks great apart from this one issue.

Do you think you could take a look at our site using the FTP credentials and God user details provided via PM? Many thanks Yankidank.

I thought that I replied to your PM already? A developer found that the default language file resolved the problem. We applied a patch to your site, and to the SVN version of Pligg to fix the issue that caused it to break.

Yep, and I replied to it. But the problem persists unfortunately. I tried a fresh installation too without success. Activation/verification emails are sent without the $password variable. Signup to our site (URL is in the PM) as a test user and change your email address to fire off an email.

All other variables display correctly ( $validation and $domain)... so something is going wrong with the $password variable.

NB: It should be noted that $password and $username are displayed correctly in password reminder emails.

Did you replace all files when you did the fresh installation? I ask because you may have overwritten a change made by the developer. See this svn modification: SourceForge.net Repository - [pligg] Revision 2478
