I would like to move the category selection for a story to the first page of the submit process, because I then want to show or hide different extra fields depending on the category.

I have tried a few things, but I believe where I'm losing it is getting the information transferred from one page to the next. I want to be able to check that stored variable on the 2nd page, but at the moment nothing is turning up.

Anyone got any ideas what I should try?

Thanks.

I was thinking about this yesterday as well ...

Having the category selection in step one of the submit process would allow a lot more flexibility in customizing the posts. Extra fields, the length of the story content, and editorial mode (not needing an url) could all then be dependent on the category chosen.

I thought about attempting it on my own but it seemed complicated. (For example the bookmarklet code would have to change because it skips step one of the submit process.) But it's something that i would be interested in seeing become part of Pligg.

Yeah, those are the kinds of things I would like to add. It would make the sorts of content you could submit more flexible.

Personally, I'm not too worried about the bookmarklet - if I can figure out getting the category on the first page, I can worry about the bookmarklet later.

Please, could someone with some knowledge help us out with this?

Being able to choose a category on the first page of the submit process is even more important to me now that we can have sub-categories.

perhaps you should try to get help at fiverr where there are relevant coders to get it done for five bucks.

Alternatively, you can try and google this to try find your solutions.

Hope above helps in any way.

Good luck.
