Yeah, I saw this soon after it was posted on Digg. All but one of the features displayed are on the Pligg to-do list. The only feature that wasn't on our list was the highlighting of comments by friends. Beta 7 already has the code for "digging" comments with a + or - . We have been talking about the AJAX-like ability to shrink comments and articles that are either given a - or reported as Flame/Off topic and such. I'm a bit underwhelmed because Digg rarely ever updates and this feels a bit forced because everyone is asking for new features and they rarely provide.

Don't try to act so superior to digg if you copy every feature of their site. It makes you look like an ass.

Maybe I'm just pissed because there's no mention of digg anywhere on pligg.com, while this is an obvious ripoff. Pligg is starting to become moderately popular, so you should start giving credit where it's due.

credit for what ? for just ideas ??

if yes so any new forum scripts must giving credit to UBB & phpBB and other old forum systems cuz all forums or boards use same ideas !!!!

No, not "for just ideas". For cloning the website. There's nothing wrong with doing that, unless you forget to give credit to the website you're cloning.

Look at the skeleton of digg, then the skeleton of pligg. Strikingly similar, wouldn't you say? Some elements of the design are exactly the same. Even the name "pligg" is an obvious indication that it's a clone of digg--but there's no mention of digg anywhere on the site.

I don't see why pligg doesn't give them any credit. Any success for pligg will come from people wanting the same success digg has. They'd be better off advertising themselves as a digg clone; not a Web 2.0 CMS. Then, the matter of ethics arises. Is it right to copy something and pass it off as your own?

maybe we should all start paying homage to the firsts of everything, the first messageboards, the first websites (since all "websites" are a copy of the first ones, in the end they ARE websites) the first interactive websites where users could click on things and have anything else happen... hmm that leaves little if any room for my content... ooorrrr maybe get off that high horse because digg == digg and this place != digg. as far as the name goes its just a name, get over it.
